Land Clearing and Site Stripping in Campbell River & Vancouver Island

Every project on this Island starts the same way: with trees, stumps, brush, and organic ground that has to come off before anything can be built on what's underneath. Land clearing is the first trade on site and the one that sets up every trade after it. Done right, the site drains, the subgrade holds, and the builder never thinks about it again. Done cheap, the stumps rot under the driveway and the lot swallows water for a decade.

Land clearing services we provide

Lot and acreage clearing. Building lots, acreages, and homesites cleared for construction: trees, brush, and vegetation removed with the footprint and the keep-trees flagged first, so what should stay standing stays standing.

Falling coordination. Where trees are big, close to structures, or near power, we coordinate qualified professional fallers and danger tree assessments: the right people for the risky part, our iron for everything after.

Grubbing and stump removal. Stumps, roots, and buried organics dug out and removed, not buried on site to rot and settle. This is the step cut-rate clearing skips, and it's the difference between a building pad and a future sinkhole.

Site stripping. Topsoil and organic material stripped to native ground and stockpiled or hauled, leaving a clean subgrade ready for structural fill, with the stripped depth and limits controlled by our own layout, not guesswork.

Brush and debris management. Slash and debris piled, processed, chipped, or hauled, managed to local bylaws and fire regulations, and cleaned up properly, because a finished clearing job shouldn't look like a windstorm.

Right-of-way and line clearing. Corridors cleared for utilities, access roads, fencing, and boundary lines, to the width on the plan, and no more.

Rock and grade. When the ground under the bush turns out to be rock, and on this Island it often does, we're already the right contractor: rock excavation, rough grading, and drainage shaping in the same mobilization.

From cleared land to build-ready site

Clearing a lot and preparing a site are usually two contracts and two mobilizations, unless your clearing contractor is a civil contractor. We carry the job straight through: strip, grub, rough grade, ditch, and place the granular: one crew, one accountable schedule, from standing timber to a pad you can build on.

That continuity matters most at the edges of the job: erosion and sediment control installed while the ground is open, drainage shaped before the rain finds its own path, and stripped organics either stockpiled for re-use in landscaping or hauled out, planned, not improvised.

And because our layout is in-house, clearing limits, setbacks, and stripping depths follow the plan. Nobody's tree comes down by accident, and nobody pays to strip ground that didn't need stripping.

Demolition and removals

Clearing isn't always trees. We take down and haul away the built stuff too: old slabs, foundations, driveways, retaining walls, and small structures: broken out, sorted for recycling where it can be, and gone.

That includes the awkward ones: slabs inside standing buildings, foundations tight to property lines, and removals where the neighbouring structure has to be protected while the old one comes out. Demolition with a civil contractor also means the hole gets backfilled and compacted properly afterward, not just left as a soft spot with a story.

Clearing responsibly on the coast

Vancouver Island clearing comes with obligations, and we treat them as part of the scope: environmental windows and setbacks near streams and riparian areas, erosion and sediment control before the weather tests it, and debris handled to local fire and burning regulations.

As a First Nations owned company, how land gets cleared matters to us beyond the contract. We clear what the project needs and protect what it doesn't, and when a project sits on culturally or environmentally sensitive ground, we know how to work with the Nations, monitors, and professionals involved, because we're often one of them.
